Made in Britain, Making it British, Manufacturing in Britain, these phrases are the new buzz words all over the print and television news. With the Olympics looming over our shoulders, London fashion week just over, there is a high interest in anything and everything manufactured in Britain. In this age of dire financial news, the outlook for British manufacturing seems to be a brightening up. It was revealed during London Fashion Week that British Fashion is one of the most important British industries, generating £21 billion last year, twice as much as the car industry. We are all taking a turn from buying cheaper products made in the Far East, to buying more expensive but higher quality products made in Britain, as Anya Hindmarch told Lisa Armstrong from the Telegraph, about the accessories manufacturing in Britain: “it’s coming back to life. It’s much easier to keep and eye on things if they’re not being made in the Far East. You can rectify mistakes before they become disasters, and speed improves profits. Made in Britain has cachet again.
